Underneath this floor, lie the remains of an
11th century Benedictine abbey founded
by Queen Margaret. The foundations of
her church can be seen through small
glass covered panels in the floor.
Shown here is the Medieval Nave.
The original abbey was destroyed in 1303 by
Edward I of England, who saw this an important
site in Scotland. Robert the Bruce is buried
in the choir area where the parish church
now stands. The church tower bears
the words "King Robert the Bruce"..
